The Westwalk Orthodontic Group was formed in 1978 when Dr. Richard Kleefield and Dr. David Romeo merged practices.  In 1983, Dr. Gary Romeo joined the group.  Drs. David and Gary Romeo are natives of Westport Connecticut.  They come from an Orthodontic family with their father, Dr. Anthony F. Romeo beginning orthodontic practice in 1961, after receiving his certification at Columbia University.  Dr. Kleefield received his graduate orthodontic training at Columbia as well.  Dr. David Romeo received his orthodontic certificate from the University of Connecticut and Dr. Gary Romeo received his certification at the University of Illinois.  This diverse training background gives our group a uniquely broad breadth of treatment philosophy.  Our group has offices in Westport and Norwalk, Connecticut. In our more than twenty-year history, we have successfully treated more than ten thousand cases ranging from children of five years in age to adults older than sixty.  We have a broad range of experience in treating patients with skeletal deformities who require a combination of orthodontic and surgical treatments.  We work with outstanding teams of surgeons at major teaching institutions, including Columbia Presbyterian, UConn Health Center, and St. Francis Health Center, as well as local oral-maxillo facial surgeons. Both Dr. David Romeo and Dr. Kleefield are faculty members at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut and teach graduate students in the Orthodontic Department of The School of Dental Medicine.  As well, Dr. Kleefield served as the Chief of the Orthodontic Subsection in the Department of Surgery at the Norwalk Hospital before that position was succeeded to Dr. David Romeo.  Both Dr. Romeo's and Dr. Kleefield are Senior-Attendings in that section. All three doctors are "Board Certified" members of the American Board of Orthodontics, the third oldest specialty board in the United States, founded in 1929.  Of the two hundred plus orthodontists in the State of Connecticut, only thirty-three are so certified.  Additionally, all three doctors are members of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics and Dr. Kleefield is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.  All doctors are members of the American Association of Orthodontists, Connecticut State Society of Orthodontists and American Dental Association.  Dr. David Romeo is President of the Connecticut State Society of Orthodontists and all three doctors are past presidents of the Greater Area Norwalk Dental Society.
