Frequently Asked Questions
What Do Orthodontists Do?
All Fairfield orthodontists are trained specialists who focus on the proper alignment of people’s dental structures. That means orthodontists wish to help you get a beautiful, well-aligned smile and fix problems with your jaws. Keep in mind that orthodontists plan treatment based on the use of appliances and not surgical interventions.
Why Should I Get Orthodontic Treatment?
Fairfield Orthodontics treatment helps patients beyond a pretty smile. Well-aligned and evenly-spaced teeth are easier to clean. Thus, orthodontics also helps promote good oral health. Finally, many patients who receive orthodontic treatment also report additional benefits in their breathing and sleeping patterns.
When Should Orthodontic Treatment Be Started?
Ideally, patients should first visit an orthodontist by age 7 when their permanent teeth are still erupting and bones are still growing. However, you should keep in mind that there is no age limit for orthodontics, so the best time to start your treatment is as soon as possible.
How Long Will Treatment Take?
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to provide an estimate without first reviewing each patient’s case. Everyone’s circumstances, goals, choices of orthodontic appliance, compliance or adherence to your specialist’s recommendations, and more will make one patient’s experience different from someone else’s.
How Often Will I Come in For An Appointment?
This, again, depends on several factors. When you are undergoing orthodontic treatment in Fairfield, you’ll want to make plans and come to the office at least once a month, but you’ll have to get in touch with your orthodontist to determine the best time to head back and make sure all is going according to plan.
